St. Agnes CMO Marks End of the Year with a unique celebration

The Catholic Men Organization (CMO) of St. Agnes’ Parish, Wuye in thanksgiving to God and as part of the activities marking the end of the year, recently hosted parishioners to a sumptuous party.Organizing a memorable end of the year get-together for the entire parish was the first major task embarked upon by the current executives of the CMO who were inaugurated in November, 2016.

The event which was graced by the Deputy Governor of Edo State, Honourable Philip Shaibu, who is CMO member of the parish, was packed with so many activities games, poems, talks among others.
Speaking at the party, the CMO Chairman, Br. Theophilus Adegor said,”The Church has plans for a better church building. The promise this current executive team is making is that we will try our best so that before our tenure ends, we shall have started the process of building the main church”. Clarifying further, he said, “Not just in terms of plans or approval, but in terms of physical structure on ground”. He continued saying, “If God grants us the grace we will finish it or at least pass on what is left to the next executives.

According to him, “contributing, cooperating and collaborating with one another in love, unity and togetherness, we will accomplish any task we embark upon”.
Regarding the event of the day, the chairman stated that the major aim of the programme was to celebrate the end of the year as a family. He appealed to parishioners to be willing to take part in the activities of the church. “Working for God is not a matter of pride or ego”, he said. “It is a matter of service and sacrifice”.
He described the presence of the Deputy Governor as an added glory to the event. “They have come to see and they are happy, and I know that whenever we call on them, they will happily come and join us”. He concluded.
The Catholic Women Organization (CWO) President of the parish, Mrs. T. Emeruwa, who led other members at the party observed that, “We appreciate the CMO for always being there for us and that is why the 2016 Harvest was a huge success. We succeeded because they were here”.
Recognizing that the church is the communion of all the faithful, the wealthy and the poor alike, she used the opportunity to appeal to the CMO to organize a scholarship scheme for the indigent children in the church so that they could enjoy at least the basic primary education.
In an atmosphere of intense excitement, the Vice-Chairman of the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC), Mr. Philip Akinfemide couldn’t hold back his joy. “This period, the church has witnessed a period of Renaissance. Renaissance doesn’t just come by itself; people make it happen. Those people are nobody but St. Agnes’ Parishioners, and the CMO”.
Recalling the words of St. Paul, “Somebody planted another watered, but the glory goes to God,” he said. “That is our system here. People selflessly work for the unity and progress of the church, and for the greater glory of God”.
On behalf of the entire church he thanked the entire CMO of the parish and the CMO group that hosted the party in particular.
